TOOLS NEEDED: Espresso machine.

Espresso con panna, in Italian, literally translates to “espresso with cream,” which is all it is. While the amount of whipped cream you use can vary, it essentially is just espresso with whipped cream on top!

This is a delicious drink for someone who enjoys the taste of espresso but who prefers it with a bit of sweetness.

The bitterness of the espresso up against the stark contrast of sweet whipped cream provides a delightful spectrum of flavors from such a simple, classic drink.



  • 2 ounces espresso
  • Whipped cream, for topping


  • Pour the espresso into a mug and add a dollop of whipped cream on top.

Recipe Tip

Make your own whipped cream with heavy (whipping) cream by whisking or using a hand mixer until you get stiff peaks. Experiment with adding flavor to your whipped cream to make your own version of this drink. Homemade maple-brown sugar whipped cream is delicious!
